According to Variety's exclusive report, Liane Moriarty's novel Apples Never Fall, published in 2021, is being adapted for the screen for Peacock.
The novel, which has sold more than a million copies since its publication, is about the Delaneys, who on the outside seem like an enviably happy family. Former tennis coaches Joy and Stan are parents of four grown children. After fifty years of marriage, they finally sell their famous tennis academy. Their goal is to enjoy the golden years of their lives. But after Joy disappears, her children are forced to rethink their parents' marriage and family history from a new perspective. Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG award-winning actress Annette Bening will appear as Joy in the series.

Melanie Marnich is writing the script for the adaptation. She will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Marnich previously wrote the screenplay for Netflix's The OA, Showtime's The Affair and HBO's Big Love. David Heyman (Marriage Story, Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood) will executive produce the series. Chris Sweeney (The Tourist, Back to Life) will sit in the director's chair for several episodes, including the pilot.
Apples Never Fall is Liane Moriarty's latest blockbuster novel. HBO series Big Little Lies, which was an adaptation of Moriarty's novel of the same name, won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes. Most recently, Nine Perfect Strangers was adapted for the screen for Hulu. There is no definite information yet about when exactly the series will meet the audience.
